The story

The narwhal's characteristic tusk has always been shrouded in mystery, leaving scientists unsure about its true purpose. It turns out that the narwhal itself was just as uncertain about it until recently, when it started to find it a little primitive to use this impractical and massively oversized tooth solely to impress the females of the pod.

That's why this particular narwhal decided to embark on an inspirational journey towards the south, docking at the harbor in San Sebastian. Here, it noticed how local bargoers skewered fish and squids with toothpicks before gobbling them up in one bite. Inspired by this technique, the narwhal returned home, and soon researchers started to notice narwhals from Greenland to Canada stunning their prey with their tusks, before swallowing them whole. That's why this method has been dubbed 'tusk-tapas'.
