This sailor mackerel came to life on my dining table and is not the first mackerel that found itself lying there. The design was inspired by a trip to the Danish west coast, where hundreds of mackerels were lying on ground in the shallow waters. I asked a local resident about this mysterious mackerel assembly. He told me that is the mackerels last desperate attempt to escape their fate as cod snacks. If that is true, it cannot be long before they adapt to their new habitat. The logical first step is to get a sweater and beanie. Growing arms and legs must be the next. ⚓️
The design on this product is embroidered in Portugal in one of the most respected embroidery factories north of the equator. Besides being impressive craftmanship, the high-quality embroidery fits well with our aim to produce long lasting products. The thread used make the designs robust and crisp after many adventures and roundtrips in the washing machine.
Do remember to wash it inside out (and to turn around again when you put it back on). During wash the cotton will curl a bit around the embroidery, but it can be straightened back out by ironing around it (not on it).
